Chris Mathisen is a Melbourne-based photographer known for his ability to capture honest, emotionally resonant images, whether in a quiet portrait, an elegant picturesque landscape, or a moment of spontaneous human connection. His work blends classic composition with modern sensitivity, revealing the story behind each frame.
With a background in project management and music, Chris easily bridges the gap between ‘creative’ and ‘analytical’ as he brings structure and foresight to every shoot, blending creativity with a calm, organised approach that clients value. His high school Work Experience assignment to The Age newspaper confirmed a lifelong love of photography, which continues to evolve through each assignment and personal project.
Chris is also passionate about sport, staying active, and immersing himself in music from all genres. Known for his emotional intelligence, he connects easily with his subjects, creating a sense of ease that allows genuine moments to unfold in front of the lens. Above all, he’s a devoted father of two, a role that grounds his work in what matters most: honesty, empathy, and the beauty of everyday connection.
We engaged Chris from Chris Mathisen Photography to capture headshots and candid photos for our website, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish.
